Kidney is one of the most important organs that act as a natural plant , eliminating waste from the blood and helps in keeping our bodies clean . We have two kidneys , located on either side of the spine .

Kidney Cancer
This is because the growth of carcinogenic cells in the kidney . There are two main types of kidney cancer , renal cell cancer and renal pelvis cancer ( transitional cell cancer ) . Renal cell cancer is further categorized into several types such as clear cell cancer ( most of the cancer cases included in this category ) , chromaphobe cancer , and papillary cancer , etc. There are still some types of unclassified renal cell cancer .

Who is at Risk ?

As with other types of cancer , men in old age they are particularly at risk of developing kidney cancer ( the age group 60 years and above ) . History shows that the majority of cancer patients are male ( about 60 % of the total number of patients ) . According to a study , obese people , smokers , and people who prefer junk or processed foods and take in a very small amount of fruits and vegetables in their diets are at the highest risk of kidney cancer ( however , not yet confirmed if the diet has something to do with the type of cancer ) .

Along with a group of people mentioned above , the people who come in contact with raw minerals such as iron , steel , etc. , and other cancer causing substances , people suffering from kidney related diseases , people suffering from high blood pressure , people who suffer of cancer in other organs ( which had begun to spread to other parts of the body ) , etc. , are also at risk of getting kidney cancer .

Symptoms
Blood in the urine is considered as one of the most prominent indication of kidney cancer , however , problems such as kidney stones and kidney infections also cause blood in the urine , because it is important to undergo a confirmation test . Along with blood in the urine , other symptoms such as pain in the lower back , swelling of the kidney and its surroundings ( also at the ankles and feet ) , a lump in the abdomen, fever , anemia , lethargy , weight loss and excessive sweating etc. . , Also noted .

Diagnosis
Generally, the X - ray scan or CAT scan is used to identify whether there is an abnormal growth of cells in kidney patients . Once the abnormal growth confirmed , doctors use a biopsy to determine whether the cells are taken from the kidney is carcinogenic or not ( eg , cancer cells ) . Along with the techniques given above , there are several techniques that are used to diagnose kidney cancer .

Treatment
Similar to most other types of cancer , kidney cancer can also be treated with surgery, radiotherapy , hormone therapy , medication , chemotherapy , immunotherapy , nutrition therapy, interferons / interleukins , etc. Surgery is used to remove the infected part of the whole kidney or kidney of the patient's body ( along with a portion of the kidney , other infected areas are also removed during surgery ) . Drugs can be used to destroy the remaining infected cells and help patients regain strength after surgery . Various types and combinations of treatments to be followed will be determined by the physician based on the stage of kidney cancer and the complexity involved .

However , there are certain side effects of various treatments such as destruction of uninfected cells after radiotherapy , the patient may experience lethargy as a result of high doses of drugs , etc. It is very important to pay attention to the patient's diet and taking the right medicine after cancer treatment .

Chances of survival of kidney cancer patients almost 50 % , while increasing the risk of a patient 's age increases . Chances of survival also depends on the stage of the disease . If the tumor has not started to spread beyond the kidney , the possibility of the patient to get cured is high , while the possibility of being thin if the tumor had ruptured and the cancer has begun to spread . Similar to other types of cancer , kidney cancer is very difficult to cure in advanced stages .
